As a full-service animal hospital and clinic, Heritage offers daytime veterinary emergency and urgent care services at our facility. During normal business hours, we can provide short or no-notice vet appointments. If possible, please call ahead at (763)-559- PETS (7387) to help ensure we have the appropriate staff and equipment ready upon your arrival.

Emergency and Urgent Care Services at Heritage

As fellow animal lovers, we understand that pets are like family. We also know the stress owner’s face during an emergency and are here to help do what’s best for your pet in this time of need. For cases that require immediate treatment but are not emergencies, we provide urgent care.

Oftentimes, we won’t know if the problem requires urgent or emergency treatment until we perform an exam. The best course of action is to contact us at (763)-559- PETS (7387) and bring your pet in immediately. Our licensed, extensively experienced veterinarians and CVTs will assess the issue(s), run the appropriate tests, and determine the proper course of action. We’ll provide the best care possible for your pet and peace of mind for you.

Situations that may require urgent or emergency veterinary care include but are not limited to:

Pale gums
Rapid or difficulty breathing
Weak or rapid pulse
Change in body temperature
Difficulty standing or walking
Apparent paralysis
Loss of consciousness
Seizures
Excessive bleeding
Vomiting or diarrhea, especially when accompanied by loss of appetite or lethargy
Retching without producing any vomit
Toxin exposure
Trauma (wounds, bite marks, skin rashes, abrasions, etc.)
Inability to pass urine or stool

Eye issues: swelling, discharge, redness
Nose issues: running/nasal discharge, crust forming in/around nose
Ear issues: signs of pain/discomfort; discharge or debris; twitching, scratching, shaking of head/ears
Coughing or sneezing
Irregular and/or straining bowel movements; diarrhea
Irregular urination (change in color, frequency, amount; straining to urinate; dribbling urine; not using litter box)
Change in diet habits (loss of interest in food/water; change in amount consumed)
Irregular behavior (depression/lethargy, anxiety, excessive fatigue/sleeping)
Evidence of worms, fleas, ticks, and other parasites
New, irregular lumps
Swelling, licking, or scratching of face
