Questioning a veterinary assessment or recommendation? Feeling unsure about your options and what’s best for your pet? Whatever your reasoning, our experienced veterinarians are happy to provide a second opinion.
At Heritage Animal Hospital, we emphasize educating our clients to help ensure the best care possible for their pets. We begin with a detailed review of what already has and hasn’t been considered, tested and diagnosed by previous veterinarians. After an initial examination, we discuss the possible causes (or “rule outs”) for the signs and symptoms the animal is showing. We’ll then explain the available tests and how they’ll help us narrow down the list of potential issues.
Once we determine a diagnosis, we’ll review treatment options. This means you will understand our recommendations and your options. We will reach an agreement together on the best plan for you and your pet.
Like you, we want to ensure the best care possible for your pet. That may require more intensive or specialized care than we can provide. In such cases, we’ll review treatment options at Heritage, as well as other clinics should we feel it necessary and/or in your pet’s best interest.
Reasons we may refer you elsewhere include:
Our primary focus is your pet’s health and safety. Working together, we’ll determine whether a referral to a specialty clinic is right for your situation.
