End of Life Decisions

With pets, hospice care is at home, and end of life decisions can be difficult and overwhelming. Sometimes their passing is abrupt, while other times it’s slow and deteriorating. At Heritage Animal Hospital, we’ll help you to understand how your pet is feeling and the likely progression of the disease process, so that you are comfortable in the hospice care or end of life decision you make.
 

If euthanasia is deemed the best option for your animal companion, the process is performed in a calm and comfortable environment, and you have the option of being present through the process if you are able. A series of two injections are administered; the first is a sedative to help your pet rest comfortably and they do not feel the second shot. We offer a clay paw print of your pet’s as well as cremation services for aftercare.
