Community Outreach Programs

Community Outreach

We invite you to participate in Heritage Animal Hospital's Community Outreach Programs. Our complimentary programs give back to the community by educating, informing, and providing pet contact to the public. Below is a concise list of these specially designed outreach programs (To schedule a program, please call our office at 763-559-PETS):

  • Friends of the Elderly: A community-sharing program that enriches the human/pet bond by providing pet visits to individuals residing at senior care homes; who do not otherwise have an opportunity to share the warmth of pet contact.
  • Fuzzy Friends for Kids: Designed for day-care and elementary school children, this sharing program helps introduce young children to the joys and responsibilities of pet care, ownership, and safety; while at the same time introduces the concept of respecting animals they do not know. Pets, stethoscopes, otoscopes, x-rays, etc., make this a fun visit.
  • Career Education Program: Sharing the profession, a Certified Veterinary Technician or Doctor will go to intermediate through high school classes sharing the career options in this field. Doctors. CVTs, Assistants, Groomers, and Kennel staff positions will be summarized in a fun and informative way including slides or a video presentation of opportunities in Veterinary Medicine. Individuals attending this program can also arrange to spend a half-day observing routine patient care and surgery in the clinical setting.
  • Education Enrichment Program: We have had and continue to have students visit our hospital as part of their internship/externship programs through alternative high school, high school, and professional school. Mentors needed!
  • Dr. Silverstein on Mathematics: Dr. Silverstein shares his fascination with mathematics as he introduces students to the every day importance in the world around them. A case provides the importance of proper algebra as students calculate the dosage needed to sedate a patient for routine surgical care.
  • Heritage Animal Hospital Tours: Similar to #2 above, community service groups (i.e. boy scouts & girl scouts, church and community youth groups) may come to our office to meet and learn about our fuzzy friends (tours usually take about 1 hour from start to finish (M,T,Th,F: 10-11:00 AM; or M-F: 3-5:00 PM are the most common times, but we do have flexibility).

Please call our office at 763-559-PETS to schedule an appointment for your group.
