About one third of pets will go missing during their lifetime, and unfortunately only 10% of these lost pets ever find their way back home. We recommend having your pet microchipped to significantly improve the chances of finding your pet, should they become lost.
Microchipping is a permanent form of pet identification that is inexpensive, painless and requires no upkeep or maintenance. The chip itself is about the size of a grain of rice, and is injected under the skin of your pet using a syringe similar to a vaccine. Each microchip contains a set of numbers and/or letters that is unique to your pet. You then register your contact information with the manufacturer of the microchip. If your pet is ever lost, most shelters, rescues, and veterinary hospitals have a scanner that can read the set of numbers and letters. They can then contact the manufacturer and get the information you registered to contact you.
Call us today at 763-559-7387 to schedule an appointment for your dog, cat or pocket pet to get microchipped.
Heritage Animal Hospital uses Home Again® microchips. Register your pet’s microchip here. Remember, if your pet is not registered, your pet is not protected. In addition, if you move or change phone numbers, please contact the company to update your information.
